Dr. Hammer is a board certified infectious disease physician with extensive experience and knowledge. He has had the opportunity to work as a Principal Investigator on two CDC-sponsored multi-center HIV epidemiology cohorts.  During this time, he attended the Gorgas Institute for Tropical Medicine in Lima, Peru and went on to earn certification in both tropical and travel medicine. Over the past five years much of Dr. Hammer’s time and energy has focused on inpatient infectious disease and stewardship issues, largely in response to the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance. For the past two years, Dr. Hammer has served on the steering committee for Colorado Hospital Association’s Antimicrobial Stewardship Initiative.
