Corporate - Senior Accountant

Position Description

The Senior Accountant plays a key role in ensuring CarePoint’s monthly financial statements are accurate, and the month-end financial close is completed on time. This position is engaged with all members of the Accounting team and provides mentorship, training, and support to Staff Accountants. The Senior Accountant helps to drive success in a highly collaborative team environment. The Senior Accountant will report to the Controller with frequent directives from the CFO.

This hybrid position is based in Denver, CO, and requires availability from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Position Requirements

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business from an accredited university is required.

Experience:

Minimum of seven years of experience in an accounting-related field as a Staff Accountant.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently while handling multiple tasks.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Expected to maintain an extremely high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High degree of motivation, adaptability, and flexibility.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills required.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepares and uploads all bi-weekly and off-cycle payroll journal entries for three corporate entities.
  • Reconciles payroll and benefit liability balance sheet accounts monthly in the Acumatica accounting system.
  • Assists Controller with the management and successful resolution of payroll tax notices from tax authorities.
  • Calculates monthly and quarterly partner distributions with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Works collaboratively with the accounting team and payroll processing team to ensure smooth and timely submission of partner distribution payments.
  • Provides supervision of the Accounts Payable team and the entire accounts payable process, including the review and approval of vendor invoices, credit card charges, employee reimbursements, and independent contractor payments.
  • Ensures proper expense coding accuracy prior to payment approval and provides timely feedback to invoice submitters and approvers when corrections are required.
  • Updates vendor profiles in the Acumatica accounting system, ensuring vendor files are compliant and the collection of signed W9 forms is completed.
  • Manages the Ramp payment system, including workflows and vendor maintenance, to ensure an error-free sync of data to Acumatica.
  • Provides user training and develops user guides for the Ramp payment system.
  • Uploads and posts the monthly Ramp transactions into Acumatica timely and accurately.
  • Prepares and submits the annual 1099 filing to the IRS and recipients.
  • Serves as a key contributor to the month-end close by preparing journal entries and reconciliations as assigned by the Controller and Assistant Controller; participates in month-end close team meetings.
  • Possesses a change management mindset and contributes ideas, works collaboratively, and implements process changes to drive increased efficiency, transparency, and accuracy in process workflows.
  • Mentors and provides guidance and support to Staff Accountants.
  • Manages unclaimed property annual filings and quarterly use tax filings.
  • Assists the CFO, Controller, and Assistant Controller as needed with special projects, research, financial analysis, and other support as assigned.
  • Advocates for and supports the culture of the accounting team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Salary Range

$88,000 - $108,000
