Position Description

The Patient Care Coordinator is an essential part of the multidisciplinary team that provides patients with exceptional care. This position’s specific duties include checking patients in and out, answering incoming calls, returning calls, routing faxes, scheduling patients, processing referrals, and routing callers to the appropriate team member. The Patient Care Coordinator actively manages patient needs and ensures a seamless end to end experience, while also being the positive face of the practice at the front desk.

Position Requirements

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Previous front desk or receptionist experience preferred.
  • Phone, scheduling or call center experience preferred.
  • One to two years of healthcare experience preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients, providers and payers.
  • The ability to multitask and be a team player, helping wherever needed.
  • Strong commitment to actively supporting an ethical open working environment.
  • Working knowledge of Google Drive and Docs.
  • Ability to excel in a team-based environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Checking patients in and out.
  • Answering incoming calls and routing them to the appropriate team member if needed.
  • Checking voicemails and returning calls as needed.
  • Processing new and existing patient referrals.
  • Managing faxes.
  • Scheduling new, follow-up, and post-operative appointments.
  • Distributing patient paperwork.
  • Obtaining prior authorization for surgeries when needed.
  • Rooming patients as needed.
  • Assisting Medical Assistants with administrative tasks as needed.
  • Assisting Surgery Schedulers as needed.
  • Preparing for clinic in advance to ensure streamlined operations.
  • Obtaining and uploading medical records.
  • Assisting patients with billing questions.
  • Checking the mail and doing supply inventory for the clinic.
  • Collecting copays and deductibles at the time of service/prior to surgery.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Salary Range

$18-$26 hourly, depending on experience.
