Position Summary: This position will perform a variety of duties involved in providing patient care in a clinic setting including patient phone calls, referrals, surgery scheduling, authorizations, rooming patients, taking preliminary histories, and front desk work.

 

Position Requirements:

Education: Graduate of accredited school of nursing. Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.

Licensure: Current RN license in the State of Colorado. BLS.

Experience:  Two years of experience in a clinical setting, neurosurgery or neurology experience preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to the patients served.
  • High degree of empathetic listening, tact and kindness toward others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Must work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Technical and critical thinking skills in relation to sound nursing judgment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Room patients and review H&P.
  • Alert physician or nurse of any abnormality in vital signs or appearance for further reassessment.
  • Assist surgeons with patient consultations and pre-operative appointments.
  • Document in the medical record complete and accurate summary of care given inclusive of medications administered, procedures performed and appropriate observation.
  • Monitoring patients’ conditions and assessing their needs.
  • Collaborating with physicians and nurses to devise individualized care plans for patients.
  • Administering patients’ medications and providing treatments according to physicians’ orders.
  • Fostering a supportive and compassionate environment to care for patients and their families.

  • Request pre-operative labs as needed.
  • Prepare and review pre-operative packets.
  • Perform surgery scheduling, authorizations, and all other related tasks for getting a patient ready for surgery.
  • Answer patient phone calls and document in the EMR.
  • Other duties as assigned.
