Corporate - Director of Human Resources

Position Description

The Director of Human Resources is a senior HR leader responsible for providing deep subject matter expertise and hands-on leadership across core HR functions, with a strong emphasis on compliance, compensation, benefits, employee evaluations, and employee relations. This role ensures that CarePoint’s people practices are compliant, equitable, scalable, and aligned with the organization’s mission to support high-performing clinicians and operational teams in a complex healthcare environment. The Director serves as a trusted advisor to leaders, balancing strategic thinking with operational excellence, and plays a critical role in building consistent, fair, and legally sound HR practices across the organization.

The nonclinical support our employees provide enable our clinical professionals, who work in dozens of emergency departments and hundreds of hospitals across the U.S., to remain laser-focused on what matters most — providing the highest level of care to patients each and every day.

This position is a hybrid role offering the flexibility of both remote and in-office work, accompanied by a base salary ranging from $130,000 - $170,000 and a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your health, financial well-being, and work-life balance. This role is located in our Greenwood Village office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary HR subject matter expert for federal, state, and local employment law compliance, including healthcare-specific regulations.
  • Ensure HR policies, procedures, and practices comply with applicable laws (e.g., FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, wage and hour, state-specific requirements). Mitigate risks by implementing best practices and staying updated on evolving employment laws.
  • Partner with Legal and external counsel as needed on employee relations matters, investigations, and risk mitigation.
  • Lead audits and ensure accurate documentation and recordkeeping across HR functions.
  • Lead the design, administration, and ongoing evaluation of compensation programs to ensure internal equity, market competitiveness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Research and assist in the development of performance management training programs that focus on enabling the workforce to achieve improvements with priority organizational concerns.
  • Oversee job architecture, salary bands, incentive plans, and pay practices in partnership with executive leadership.
  • Lead and manage CarePoint benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, retirement, leave programs, and wellness offerings.
  • Manage vendor relationships and support annual renewals, open enrollment, and employee communications.
  • Utilize data-driven insights and key performance indicators to inform strategic workforce planning and operational improvements, including performance, engagement, wellness, and retention rates.
  • Own and continuously improve CarePoint’s performance evaluation framework to ensure consistency, fairness, and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Partner with leaders to strengthen goal setting, feedback, and development conversations.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to leaders on performance management and documentation.
  • Serve as a trusted partner on employee development and goals.
  • Lead or oversee investigations in a timely, objective, and legally sound manner.
  • Support leaders through complex and sensitive employee situations with professionalism and discretion.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Talent and Operations leaders to ensure alignment across the employee lifecycle.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop HR team members as applicable.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree or HR certification (SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or equivalent).

Experience:

8+ years of progressive HR experience, with significant depth in compliance, compensation, benefits, employee evaluations, and employee relations.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices, ideally within healthcare or a highly regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated experience advising leaders on complex employee issues with sound judgment and discretion.
  • Proven ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution.
  • Effective organizational, planning, controlling, scheduling, and project management abilities.
  • Effective leadership abilities.
  • Proven track record of initiating change and innovation.
  • Ability to develop goals and priorities for a large healthcare organization.
  • Superior communication skills, both in written and verbal presentation.
  • Proficient at working in teams with respect and cooperation to advance mutual goals.
  • Effective analytical ability to develop and analyze options, recommend solutions, and solve complex issues and problems.
  • Experience utilizing HRIS, employee engagement platforms, and data analytics to drive decision-making.
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced and changing environment with multiple priorities and objectives.
