Timpanogos Regional Hospital (Orem, UT), whose emergency department is staffed by nine CarePoint physicians, was recently ranked No. 1 in quality across HCA Healthcare.

According to Timpanogos Chief Medical Officer Matt Pollard, MD, the ranking is based on clinical scorecard data for 31 metrics and tracked across eight different service lines, including emergency medicine.

Timpanogos earned the top spot out of HCA’s 190 hospitals nationwide for the month of June 2026.

Dr. Pollard attributed the achievement to several key factors, including:

  • Aggressive treatment targets: While national standards call for eligible stroke and sepsis patients to receive thrombolytic treatment within 60 minutes, HCA/Timpanogos have a more ambitious target of less than 45 minutes.
  • 100% door-to-needle compliance: All the hospital’s TNK-eligible stroke patients received treatment in under 45 minutes.
  • Early sepsis detection: Timpanogos utilizes an HCA-developed program called Sepsis Prediction and Optimization of Therapy (SPOT) to rapidly identify sepsis, streamline blood diagnostics, and accelerate immediate medication delivery.

The CarePoint physicians at Timpanogos are Medical Director and Managing Partner Randle Likes, DO; Eli Borup, DO; Ryder Olsen, DO; Mo Paryavi, MD; Justin Pearson, MD; Jordan Richardson, DO; Micah Smith, DO; Nathan Stanford, MD; and Nathan Tranchell, DO.

“Quality is built in dozens of moments: preventing complications, reducing readmissions, helping patients discharge at the right time with the right instructions, and protecting patients from harm,” Dr. Pollard said. “This No. 1 ranking reflects the countless decisions our providers make each day to improve more lives.”
