CarePoint Emergency Medicine Physician Alaa Aldalati, MD, has been elected secretary of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine’s (SAEM) Simulation Academy for the 2025-26 academic year.
The Simulation Academy is a national education organization dedicated to advancing simulation-based education, research, and patient care in emergency medicine. It provides a platform for collaboration, scholarship, and innovation in simulation through workshops, national presentations, and academic networking.
As secretary, Dr. Aldalati will help ensure the continuity of projects and contribute to strategic planning efforts, coordinate communications between members, and support the Simulation Academy’s initiatives and subcommittees. She’s already leading a few projects related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) as well as the organization’s journal club.
This isn’t the first time Dr. Aldalati has served in a leadership role. While she was completing her emergency medicine residency at the Mayo Clinic, she served as vice chair of the Emergency Medicine Residents’ Association’s Simulation Committee. She was elected chief resident at the Mayo Clinic as well.
At Brown University, where she completed a simulation fellowship, she won the Simulation Academy’s Best Trainee of the Year award and also received a scholarship to attend SAEM’s Advanced Research Methodology Evaluation and Design course.
Simulation is central to much of Dr. Aldalati’s work. Nationally, she leads a DEI-focused simulation curriculum project for emergency medicine residents. Locally, she leads the simulation experience for future residents and is developing a faculty development course focused on procedural skills, effective feedback, and debriefing techniques.
Prior to attending the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Aldalati completed a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree program at Alfaisal University in Saudi Arabia. She’s currently enrolled in John Hopkins University’s Master of Education in the Health Professions program, which she’s on track to complete in December 2025.
Dr. Aldalati joined CarePoint in August 2024 and practices at Wesley Medical Center (Wichita, KS).
