CarePoint Emergency Medicine Physician Joshua White, DO, has received the Utah Medical Association’s (UMA) Rising Star Award, presented to early-career physicians who go above and beyond both inside and outside the hospital.

The 35-year-old physician was honored on September 13, 2025, at a UMA House of Delegates ceremony.

Inside the hospital, Dr. White is a leader, rising to the position of medical director at Holy Cross Hospital - Jordan Valley West (West Valley City, UT) in just a few short years. He also practices at Lakeview Hospital (Bountiful, UT), Holy Cross Hospital - Davis Hospital Weber Campus (Roy, UT), and Syracuse Emergency Center (Syracuse, UT).

Dr. White’s compassion extends beyond the patients he cares for in the emergency room—he’s also a certified peer support specialist at CarePoint, providing emotional support and resources whenever called upon to help the practice’s clinicians navigate the stressors inherent in today’s healthcare environment.

Outside the hospital, Dr. White is equally committed to service and leadership. He was recently elected president-elect of the Utah chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP)—“an unprecedented achievement for such a young physician,” UMA noted.

Additionally, Dr. White:

  • Has been actively involved in primary research and publication, contributing to multiple clinical research projects and peer-reviewed articles and to more than a dozen formal scholarly presentations.
  • Has served as a delegate at UMA’s House of Delegates and as a member of the organization’s Nomination’s Committee.
  • Has made humanitarian trips to Fiji, Mexico, India and Guatemala to provide medical aid.
  • Has already won several awards, including a Clinical Case Presentation Award at the Arizona Osteopathic Medical Convention and a Service Award for his community-service work.

A graduate of Midwestern University’s Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. White joined CarePoint in 2022 after completing his emergency medicine training at CHRISTUS Health-Texas A&M College of Medicine Spohn.
